I’m watching Iron Chef America, and the theme is curry. I need some curry recipes.
I cleaned my room today, which has been a long time coming. My desk was a hot mess, and now it’s actually clean. I should have taken before and after pictures, but I got two more bags of trash leaving my room. I think I’m getting close to having nothing left to throw out. Maybe a few more things to drop off in my mom’s basement. I like when my room is clean.
Ryan and I finally gave in last week and ordered satellite TV, hence the previous comment about watching Iron Chef America. It’s nice to not have the TV go out just because a Septa bus drove by.
I’ve decided it’s time to go through my iTunes library again, clean out some of the cruft, fix up the meta-data. I’ve decided my focus this time is going to be getting everything a reasonably accurate genre tag. In the past, I had avoided worrying about genre because, often, it’s quite subjective. What I may call indie someone else may call modern rock. This time, I’ve decided, I’m just going with what I think the genre is, and to hell with everyone else.
Wow the weather is nice today. We have all of the windows in the apartment open.
It’s been a busy couple of days, if you count being sick as being busy. I spent most of Christmas day in bed, and basically didn’t leave my apartment on Friday. Yesterday I got lunch with Xiane, and dinner with Chris, Mary, and some of their friends at Buddakan. We were supposed to go out after dinner, but Mary was tired, and I was still feeling too sick to argue.
Today has been pretty slow, just hacking at some Handbrake code and reading the Internets. We all went to Ten Stone for brunch, which was yum. It’s funny, though, if you get there at 10:30, the place is freaking deserted.
Next week at work should be a mess. I have to get everything in order before heading out to CA on Jan 4th. Still don’t have any NYE plans, it should be interesting to see what develops. And now I’m off to drop my registration form in the mail for next term’s Japanese class. That, combined with writing a rent check soon is going to put quite the hurting on my checking account. Oof!
This video demonstrates what is probably the most amazing mathematical formula: eπi + 1 = 0.
For any of my non-math-nerd friends out there who actually watched the video, I think they kinda glossed over a couple steps. The expansions they show for e, cos, and sin are all the Taylor series for those functions. Also, at the end, where they show eπi = cos π + i sin π. That step works because cos π = -1 and sin π = 0, so you get -1 + i 0 = -1. Then eπi = -1 or eπi + 1 = 0.
Yesterday was the big day, the culmination of months (or days in some of our cases) of shopping and preparation. All that work over in a few minutes. I hope everyone’s Christmas (or whatever you may have celebrated) was joyous, and all that jazz. Personally, I spent most of the day in bed. I managed to start coming down with a sinus infection Monday night, that seems to be on its way out the door today. It’s almost as if it conspired to make my Christmas as unpleasant as possible. Other than feeling like someone was stabbing me in the sinuses it was pretty good.
I spent Christmas-Eve at my Grandmom’s, as we always do. This year I didn’t take any pictures though (see above comment about being sick), so sorry Matt, but you won’t get to see any sexy pictures of my Grandmom this year. Yesterday was the big family breakfast and dinner at my mom’s house, followed by me coming home and passing the eff out.
Today, I think I have some more blog work to do. I’m working on updating the iPhone optimized version of the site. Other than that, maybe clean a bit, just taking it easy in general.
Kate yelled at me for not having anything on mattstocum.com so I finally got up off my butt and put something there, this. I’m moving the blog to mattstocum.com. You don’t need to update any links though because the old ones should stay working, at least for now. Also, I’ve done some major updates to the site, if anyone has any comments or recommendations, let me know.
